RECIPE BY: Dorot Gardens

Ingredients:

    • ingredient
    • 2 ripe small avocados
    • ingredient
    • 1 lemon, juiced
    • ingredient
    • 1 cube Dorot garlic
    • ingredient
    • 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
    • ingredient
    • 1 small plum tomato, seeded and finely chopped
    • ingredient
    • ½ small yellow onion, finely chopped
    • ingredient
    • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
    • ingredient
    • Tortilla chips, for dipping

Cooking Instructions:

1
Cut avocados in half around the pit. Separate the halves. Pop out pit with spoon, then scoop flesh of avocados into a bowl.
2
Squeeze the juice of a lemon over the avocados. (By squeezing the lemon halves facing cut-side up, it allows the juice to spill down over the sides of the lemon into the bowl to keep the seeds in the lemon and out of the guacamole.)
3
Add garlic, jalapeno, tomato, onion and salt to the bowl.
4
Mash and mix the ingredients into a chunky dip using a fork.
5
Serve with blue corn tortilla chips.

Why This Garlic Guacamole Recipe Stands Out

Guacamole is a beloved dip worldwide, known for its creamy texture and fresh, vibrant flavors. This garlic guacamole recipe takes the classic to the next level by adding the rich, aromatic depth of garlic, courtesy of Dorot Gardens’ frozen garlic cubes. Using these cubes ensures you get fresh, potent garlic flavor without the hassle of peeling and chopping, perfect for busy kitchens or last-minute snacks.

The addition of jalapeno gives this guac with garlic just the right amount of heat to balance the creaminess of the avocado and the acidity of fresh lemon juice. The plum tomato adds a juicy, slightly sweet contrast, while the yellow onion provides a mild sharpness. Coarse salt rounds out the flavors, enhancing each ingredient without overpowering the delicate balance.

Tips for Making the Best Garlic Guacamole

To make your garlic guacamole taste its absolute best, start with ripe avocados. They should feel slightly soft but not mushy when gently squeezed. If they’re underripe, your guac may be too firm and less flavorful. Overripe avocados, meanwhile, can make the dip bitter or overly mushy.

Use fresh lemon juice to prevent browning and add brightness. The method of squeezing the lemon cut-side up ensures seeds stay out of the guacamole, avoiding any bitter surprises in your dip.

Don’t skip the Dorot garlic cubes—fresh garlic adds essential aroma and depth. These cubes are flash-frozen soon after harvest, locking in maximum flavor and nutrients. Using a cube also guarantees consistent garlic intensity, unlike fresh garlic cloves that can vary.

When mashing, aim for a chunky texture that lets the fresh ingredients shine. Over-mashing can lead to a pasty guac, so use a fork to combine until you reach your preferred consistency.

Variations You Can Do to Customize Your Guac with Garlic

This garlic guacamole recipe is incredibly versatile. Here are some ways to customize it to your taste or occasion:

  • Add cilantro: Dorot cilantro adds a fragrant, herbal note that complements the garlic perfectly.
  • Swap jalapeno for serrano: For more heat, try serrano peppers instead of jalapeno.
  • Add cumin or smoked paprika: A pinch of cumin or smoked paprika adds a smoky depth to your garlic guac.
  • Mix in diced mango or pineapple: For a sweet twist, you may add a diced tropical fruit (like mango or pineapple). This contrast is especially delicious if you like sweet and spicy combos.
  • Add diced red onion: If you prefer a sharper onion flavor, swap yellow onion for red.

Perfect Occasions for Garlic Guacamole

Garlic guacamole is a crowd-pleaser that suits many settings:

  • Game day snacks: Serve in a bowl surrounded by chips and veggies for a delicious party platter.
  • Summer barbecues: A cool, fresh dip that pairs beautifully with grilled meats and veggies.
  • Quick lunch: Spread on toast or pair with a salad for a simple, healthy meal.
  • Mexican-themed dinners: A must-have side for tacos, burritos, quesadillas, or fajitas.
  • Healthy snack: Packed with healthy fats and fresh ingredients, it’s a guilt-free treat anytime.
